Brothels and pimping legalized in Ontario, Canada
"The top court in Canada's Ontario province on Monday legalized pimping and brothels in an attempt to make prostitution less dangerous for those employed as sex workers.
The landmark decision noted that prostitution is very dangerous and existing laws prevented sex workers from banding together and hiring security guards."
- msnbc.com staffOkay, let's all face it. Prostitution has been a part of society since (as far as I'm concerned) man was first made. At one time, it was considered a noble calling instead of dirty and foul. It was a way for widowed or single women to earn a living back whenever women couldn't own land and had nothing to trade with. Prostitution is even spoken of in the Old Testament. So why are people so "OMG, EW" about it? Obviously the politicians and celebrities enjoy it, the only difference with the politicians is they try and ban it to cover up their wrong doings.
It's a way for women to earn money in the household. It's not as if they're doing it willy-nilly in the streets for free just because they want to get laid. If you were to ask anybody what a job is, most people would say it's an act that you get paid for. If you work in a cubicle and get paid, it's a job. So, if you have sex and get paid, isn't that a job as well? Technically in a cubicle, you're still using your body, just not in the same way you would if you were a prostitute. In a cubicle, you're getting used for your brain, typing skills (more than likely) and you're ability to file (once again, more than likely). In prostitution, you're getting used for your reproductive organs, among other things...
The difference isn't really that big of an issue. It's not like they're killing anyone (unless they have an STD they don't know about). They're doing a service that people want and pay good money for, so why stop it? Women need to earn money just as much as men do, and if stripping or prostitution is the only way, why deny them the right to earn it just because of a job occupation OTHER (as in people not involved with it) people don't agree with.
It seems to me as if some "moral fags" used certain techniques to persuade people that prostitution is a horrible sinful deed. I wouldn't do it, but just because I wouldn't doesn't mean I should try and force other women to stop. Would you rather women and families with children to starve and die, or would you want them to make money to feed themselves and their children? Hmmm... priorities, priorities, priorities.
